Yesterday, I saw the movie Guardians of the Galaxy. It was funny - the action scenes were a bit much; but bearable. If you would like to see it, opt for IMAX, you can't go wrong.
So, I wanted a casual yet chic outfit for said movie. It was a long movie therefore anything too tight or constricting was out of the question. I have had these retro high-waisted denim pants for years, they were one of my thrift store finds. Yesterday, I decided their reign as pants had come to an end, and it was time for them to be shorts. Cue 60 seconds shorts DIY! You will need a pair of scissors and steady hands. Barring steady hands, you will require chalk and a pressing iron.
Step 1: Lay pants out on a very flat surface.
Smooth out any wrinkles and tug crotch up to allow pants to lay very flat.

Step 2: Using scissors, cut steadily across pant legs at desired length. For unsteady hands, use chalk to mark desired point and draw cutting line for precision. |
Cut straight across carefully. |
Step 3: Roll edges of new shorts twice, to create a finished look.
If you would prefer a precise fold, use chalk to draw two parallel lines. Fold along lines.
Use a pressing iron to keep folds in place.
Roll edges by hand. |
Step 4: Pair with bright cropped top, matching accessory and go forth into the world brimming with sass. Do not forget to be proud of yourself for adding a new item to your wardrobe, without spending a cent! xx |
